Rogue River police identified the driver of the First Student bus as Teralyn Morgan, 39, of Wimer. Police said the collision occurred about 9:05 a.m. in the 5200 block of North River Road when the bus and a Murphy Plywood semitruck collided not far from the mill. Police said the bus wasn't carrying any children at the time of the crash. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reported the semi's driver, Mark Minegar, and the sole passenger in the bus, Gary Randolph, were both taken to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford. Asante spokeswoman Lauren Van Sickle said late Tuesday Randolph was listed in critical condition and Minegar's condition was listed as serious. Jen Biddinger, a spokeswoman for First Student, said Morgan had worked for the company since 2010, serving the Rogue River School District. Biddinger said no company memorial activities have been officially planned yet. A Gofundme site has been set up to help family members with funeral expenses. According to the site, Morgan was married and the mother of two children. The site can be found at www.gofundme.com/uzgkd8r . Biddinger told the Courier she did not know of any other fatal crashes involving First Student buses in recent years. “It’s just a very difficult day for all of us,” she said. She also told the Courier the company is “deeply saddened by the accident that occurred today. The driver was a caring and compassionate woman. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” It is not yet known what caused the crash. The Jackson County Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction team, or STAR, was activated to help Rogue River police with their investigation, a sheriff's department news release said. Rogue River Fire District 1 and Jackson County sheriff's deputies also responded to the scene. Reach reporter Thomas Moriarty at 541-776-4471 or by email at [email protected].
