BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Mustangs rally to down Fairfield By Mail Tribune staff Jul 09, 2020 08:51 PM A A The Medford Mustangs scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning — with Evan McLennan ripping the big hit — to eke out a 9-8 American Legion baseball victory over the Fairfield Expos Thursday at U.S. Cellular Community Park. The big inning followed a six-run outburst by Fairfield in the top of the frame and upped the Mustangs’ record to 16-5. Dylan Marsh started Medford’s sixth when he was hit by a pitch. Steven Ledendecker’s one-out double put runners at third and second. Taven Passey scored both with a triple to right field. After a strikeout, Rowan Amann lined a single to left to score Passey. Walks to Chase Costanti and Bennett Thompson loaded the bases, and McLennan belted a bases-clearing double to center. Amann was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, while Marsh and Passey each drove in two. Thompson pitched a perfect seventh with two strikeouts to preserve the win for Brady Eiler. Koda Passey went 3-for-3 with a double and scored twice for North Medford, which rapped 11 hits. Tyler Dunlevy was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss, Cody Borraggine was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI and Aiden Horsley drove in two runs.
