BASEBALL STARS FOR SUNDAY GAME The addition of three imported baseball stars, including Pruitt, who formerly played in the Coast league, to the Gold Hill team assures a close battle in the game between Gold Hill and Medford at the ball park tomorrow afternoon. Even before the addition of these players, Gold Hill had lost but few games and was conceded to be a strong contender for valley baseball honors. The loss of Coleman, who was injured in practice Thursday night, has to a degree weakened the local team, although McIntyre, who was secured this week from Sisson, will fill his place in left field. McIntyre played last season with Weed and Yreka and will make a strong man for Medford. As an added attraction, Cook and Sherman will stage a parachute drop from a high altitude. These men recently appeared at the strawberry festival at Roseburg and will appear at the roundup at Ashland. The batteries will be: Gold Hill, Pruitt and Eddings; Medford, Sieberts and Force. SOCIETY The W. R. C. met in regular session on Wednesday afternoon at the Redman hall, this being the first meeting after the G. A. R. and W. R. C. convention at Eugene. The president, Mrs. Mulhollen, and two delegates, Mrs. Hall and Miss Leona Hull have very interesting reports of the convention, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all present. At the close of the session the W. R. C. celebrated their second birthday party for this year. The first number was a treat from Miss Leona Hull. Master Willie and Virgil Hull in costumes of candy cooks served delicious candy to all present. Music by Mrs. Miller and singing by Vivian Miller was followed by an invitation to the banquet room, where refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Wednesday evening the finals of the Epworth league tennis tournament were played at the league court on Third and Bartlett streets. Following the finals, a bonfire was made and races and outdoor games were enjoyed, after which refreshments of ice cream and cake were served.
