Extreme heat prompts cooling shelter in Ashland Updated: Jul 25, 2022 11:08 AM A A A wave of unusually high temperatures is expected to hit the Rogue Valley through next week, and the city of Ashland will operate a cooling shelter in the Gresham Room of the Ashland library. Temperatures this week are expected to remain in the triple digits, with a high Monday of 108 degrees. Wednesday crowns the week with a high of 109. Sunday is predicted to cool down to 102. Ashland’s cooling shelter has varying hours by day: Monday, July 25, 2-7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 26-28, 4-7:30 p.m. Friday July 29, 1-8 p.m. Saturday July 30, 2-7:30 p.m. Service animals are welcome in the shelter, if they are leashed, while human visitors are asked to wear a mask. Volunteers staffing the shelter will accept donations of water or ice pops. Donations can be brought to the shelter site. The Ashland Police Department will offer water bottles to people in need.
