Lincoln, Page go 2-3 in conference heptathlon LA GRANDE -- Southern Oregon's Laura Lincoln and Kena Page were positioned one-two after the first of two days in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships at Eastern Oregon University. But Holly Conrad of Western Oregon leap-frogged past the two Raider heptathletes to capture the title Tuesday at Community Stadium. Conrad posted a 3,974 winning total, while Page was second with 3,967 and Lincoln placed third at 3,945. Page and Lincoln registered lifetime bests in the seven-event competition. Page, a sophomore from Cave Junction, set personal records Tuesday in the 800 meters (2:44.37) and the javelin (104-2). Lincoln, who set personal bests in all four first-day events, came back with a personal record in the javelin (101-5). But Conrad, the defending conference javelin champion, helped her cause a great deal with a javelin toss of 133-6 on the final day. The javelin throw gave her 171 more points than Page and 187 more than Lincoln in that event. Page had a long jump of 17- inch, while Lincoln long jumped 16-1 and had a 2:45.37 time in the 800. The two-three finish for Southern Oregon provides the Raiders with 14 points in next month's conference track and field meet. In the men's decathlon, Jason Follett of Eastern Oregon -- second after the first day -- won the event with a 6,293 total. First-day leader Jim Stever of Western Oregon fell to seventh.
