Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend October 11, 2005 RCC’s Table Rock Campus to open Friday Rogue Community College will celebrate the grand opening of its new Table Rock Campus in White City Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public tours. The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. with speeches by RCC President Peter Angstadt, campus Executive Dean Galyn Carlile, construction technology department head Ralph Henderson, RCC board Chairwoman Sharon Davidson, Jackson County Commissioner David Gilmour and Jackson County Fire District 3 Chief Randy Iverson. From noon until 7 p.m., the public can tour the 105,000-square-foot building that houses programs in manufacturing, electronics, fire science, construction, emergency medical technology and diesel technology, as well as apprenticeships and short-term training. Already nearly 800 students have signed up for classes at the campus, which provides core and specialized classes, registration, financial aid, academic advising and a bookstore in one location, officials said. The campus is at 7800 Pacific Ave., just east of the intersection of Table Rock and East Antelope roads. The college bought the former Tyco printed circuitboard plant and about 10 acres of undeveloped land next to it in 2003 for $3 million. Supervising contractor Adroit Construction Co. of Ashland completed the $6.5 million building renovation, finishing on schedule and under budget. Funding for the project came from a $24 million bond measure Jackson County voters approved in November 2004, a $1 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and a $750,000 grant from the Meyer Memorial Foundation. Bond funds also paid off debt on the college’s first building at its Riverside Campus in downtown Medford, bought three additional buildings and two parking lots, and remodeled downtown buildings. About $6.3 million in bond funds remains available for a joint facility with Southern Oregon University planned for downtown Medford.
