SINCE YOU ASKED Since You Asked: Where the sidewalk's blocked, it's a violation MailTribune.com Writer Posted Sep. 29, 2015 @ 12:01 am Posted Sep. 29, 2015 @ 12:01 am » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2325,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> Why isn't more being done to get the cars, boats and travel trailers off the sidewalks (in Medford)? The disabled, seniors, and kids need them. — Jerry S., Medford Medford police tell us that they don't go actively looking for such sidewalk blocks, Jerry. But they will investigate them if contacted, as such incidents are violations of Medford municipal code, for sure. “People just need to call it in, and we’ll come out and handle it. It’s not something that we’re generally searching out perhaps," said Lt. Mike Budreau. "It’s generally complaint-driven.” It's found under section 6.360, which concerns obstructions in the right of way. The ordinance reads: "No person shall place, cause to be placed, or permit to remain on a street or sidewalk anything that obstructs or interferes with public use of a street or sidewalk or interferes with the normal flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic." A fee of up to $75 can be assessed, the ordinance says. However you go about it, we hope you get your situation straightened out. Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
