Reno Lake Tahoe BEND: The High Desert Museum has opened a new walk-through participatory exhibit tentatively called "Discovery Room." It has been created around the theme of high desert habitats, homes and shelters. It features a hands-on environment designed for family exploration of the natural and cultural history of the region. Museum admission is $6.25 for adults, $5.75 for seniors and youths ages 13-18, $3 for children ages 5-12. For more information call (541) 382-4754. COOS BAY: The tall ship Lady Washington will sail into Coos Bay on Oct. 9 and stay until Oct. 19. COOS BAY: It's time to start marking the calendar for the annual Holiday Lights and Open House at Shore Acres State Park, near Charleston, west of Coos Bay. The spectacular Christmas lighting exhibit will open on Thanksgiving Day. Hours will be 4 to 10 p.m. nightly through Jan. 4. EUGENE: Events coming to the Hult Center include: Maya Angelou, noted author and speaker at the 1993 Clinton inauguration, speaks at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Tickets are $30-$15. KLAMATH FALLS: An artists' reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Klamath Art Association Gallery in Klamath Falls to showcase wool artist Sharon Allen and painter Ilene Gienger-Stanfeld. Their two-person exhibit will be on display from Oct. 5 to Oct. 25. LINCOLN CITY: George Jones performs in concert as part of the Chinook Winds Concerts by the Sea series in Lincoln City at 8 p.m. Oct. 28-29. Tickets are $30. SEATTLE: A rarely-seen work by Leonardo da Vinci will be shown in Seattle Oct. 23 through next Jan. 4. The exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum features the Codex Leicester, a manuscript of da Vinci's scientific observations and sketches written in the early 1500s. It was acquired by Microsoft cofounder William H. Gates III in 1994 and is the only da Vinci manuscript in the United States. Call (206) 654-3100 for more information.
