Watch for heavy law enforcement presence searching for stabbing suspect along I-5. @JCSO_Oregon — Oregon State Police (@ORStatePolice) February 23, 2017 On Thursday afternoon, Oregon State Police troopers were still looking for at least one suspect along Interstate 5 north of Central Point following the early-morning stabbing of a man near Milepost 34. The agency responded to a 911 call at the location just before 6 a.m. Thursday, according to OSP Sgt. Jeff Proulx. Responding officers found the victim, who has not yet been identified, in the 4000 block of Old Upton Road, which is just off the freeway, with stab wounds, Proulx said. The victim was conscious. Information about the assault, including suspect information and type of weapon used, was not available Thursday afternoon. "One person, two persons, we don’t know yet," Proulx said, adding police were still trying to determine if the victim had other injuries in addition to the stab wounds. Members of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department were in the Gold Hill area assisting with the search. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact OSP at 541-664-4600.
