Man wanted on attempted murder in Cottage Street shooting Raymond Suarez Jr. Tuesday Jan 31, 2017 at 12:19 PM Jan 31, 2017 at 12:33 PM A 24-year-old California man with gang affiliations is wanted by police for allegedly firing several rounds toward two people he believed were trying to steal his car Saturday night on Cottage Street. Raymond Suarez Jr., of Oxnard, Calif., who has a lengthy criminal history in that state, is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, said Medford police Lt. Kerry Curtis. Medford police responded to the alley near the 100 block of Cottage Street at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports that shots had been fired. They learned a man had fired several rounds at two people he believed had been trying to steal his car, striking an apartment building and a vehicle. The two victims were not injured. Curtis said the victims weren't trying to steal the man's car. "It was a little disagreement, and that little disagreement turned bad," Curtis said, adding police do not believe it was gang-related. The man fled in a vehicle with another man, both described as Hispanic.  Detectives' investigation determined Suarez was the shooter, the release said. Search warrants were served on a home and vehicle on 12th Street belonging to family members of Suarez but police did not find the handgun involved in the shooting. It is not known how long Suarez had been in the Medford area, Curtis said. Suarez is described as 5-foot-10, 220 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and several tattoos on his face. He is believed to have gang affiliations out of California, Curtis said, but which gang was not immediately known. Suarez is wanted on two counts of attempted murder and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. Police are not sure whether he's still in the area. He has no criminal history in Oregon, according to court records. Anyone with information is asked to contact Medford police Detective Tony Young at 541-774-2244.
