O. Nordwick, proprietor of the Medford roller mills, is the only manufacturer offering prizes for home industry products this week. He offers as a first prize a 50-pound sack of flour for the best loaf of bread baked from his flour; 25 pounds as a second prize, and 10 pounds as a third prize. Miss Alice Hanley will be the judge. The prizes may be obtained by the winners either at the roller mills or at Marsh & Bennett's store. The Greater Medford club is well pleased with the general response to its appeal for substantial observance of "Consumer's Week." Much interest has been manifested, considering that this is the first attempt to create interest in local products and home manufactures in that peculiar way. It was sufficiently observed to demonstrate the fact that it is a good thing to repeat next year. It will carry a strong influence in the matter of creating interest among local consumers in home products, the more general use of which will keep home money at home. ANGLERS MEET TO CLOSE ROGUE RIVER The annual meeting of the Rogue River Fish Protective association will be held at 7:30 o'clock this evening at the Medford library hall. Officers for the coming year are to be elected. President Isaacs announcing that he wishes to retire. A vice-president and secretary-treasurer are also to be elected. A full attendance is desired, as some of the anglers desire to launch a campaign for an initiative bill closing the entire river to commercial fishing and shutting down the canneries at the mouth of the stream. Other matters, including the restocking of streams, will also come up for action. LOCAL AND PERSONAL Members of the city council, reinforced by the presence of S. S. Bullis, representing the Southern Oregon Traction company, and A. S. Rosenbaum, representing the Southern Pacific company, inspected the condition of the street crossing at Main and the railroads named Friday morning with a view to agreeing on a much needed improvement. Pavement of the spaces between the tracks of the two railroads has not yet been made, leaving the crossing very rough for all kinds of street traffic.
