Eagle Point man killed as car, log truck collide EAGLE POINT � An 85-year-old man died Friday morning when a loaded log truck collided with the man�s car on Highway 140 at Brownsboro, closing the road for 2� hours. Gerald Hansen, of Eagle Point, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. His wife and driver of the car, 80-year-old Margaret Hansen, was in fair condition with a head injury at Providence Medford Medical Center Friday evening. Margaret Hansen was driving their 1989 Ford sedan when she pulled out of a private driveway to go east on Highway 140, troopers said. Their car was struck by the loaded log truck, which was going west. The impact caused the truck to roll onto its side and lose its load of logs, troopers said. The highway was closed for about 2� hours while crews removed the truck and loaded the logs onto another truck. The truck driver, 64-year-old Ray Armstrong of Bonanza, was not injured, troopers said. A preliminary investigation determined that Gerald Hansen was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. Both his wife and the truck driver were wearing seatbelts.
