One Flyin Foose takes Far West Futurity at Grants Pass Downs By Mail Tribune staff Oct 13, 2019 09:06 PM A A GRANTS PASS — One Flyin Foose held off Maximo II, which had the top qualifying time, to win the Far West Futurity by a neck at Grants Pass Downs on Sunday. Ridden by Jaime Lopez and trained by Freddy Ibarra, Flyin Foose prevailed with the same jockey-trainer combination that took Senor Frogs to victory in the Firecracker Futurity on July 4. The purse for the Far West Futurity was $34,150, and the winner’s share was $18,783. In the eighth of the day’s nine races, General Mach Four pulled away for a convincing 6 1/4-length victory over runner-up Mr. Takahashi. The win was General Mach Four’s second straight and 11th in 33 career starts. General Mach Four was ridden by Kassie Guglielmino and trained by Jorge Rosales. Grants Pass Downs took in bets totaling $85,073 Sunday, $24,676 of which was on track.
