Memmott extends pitching streak for Rogues By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Oct 16, 2021 02:33 PM A A Former Crater High pitcher Jacob Memmott bumped his streak of zero earned runs allowed to six straight appearances for the Medford Rogues during a 15-5, seven-inning win over the South Bay Storm late Tuesday. Memmott, a right-hander for Western Oregon these days, allowed one hit in 1 1/3 innings of relief with two strikeouts and one walk to earn his first win of the summer for the Rogues (27-8). Memmott hasn’t allowed an earned run in 10 innings, dating back to June 13. Game 2 of the three-game series will be at 6:35 p.m. tonight at Harry & David Field. Medford helped make Memmott a winner with an offensive outburst shortly after he came on in relief of Matt Ager in the fifth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, the Rogues erased a 4-2 deficit with RBI efforts by Omar Ortiz and Emiliano Alarcon and scored another run off a South Bay error. The Rogues then broke the game open with a six-run eighth inning, kick-started by an RBI single from Ortiz and two-run single by Ruben Cedillo. Alarcon later drew a bases-loaded walk and Medford saw Jesse Brown and Noah Sudyka each drive in a run during the outburst, which also included runs scoring on a wild pitch and passed ball. Medford finished with 10 hits and got a boost from 15 walks issued by South Bay pitchers. Ortiz went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, while Austin Smith and Josh Williams each were 2-for-4 with two runs for Medford. Alec Smith was 2-for-3 with three runs for South Bay and Stephen Hom drove in two runs.
