Now, investigators are working to identify the person, Siskiyou County sheriff’s department spokeswoman Susan Gravenkamp said. They are focusing their attention on three Siskiyou County residents who have disappeared in recent years, she said. Angela Marie Fullmer, 34, disappeared last December after reportedly walking away from an argument with a companion. Karin Mero, 28, disappeared from McCloud in February 1997 and 15-year-old Hannah Zaccaglini was last seen in McCloud in June 1997. Advertisement A Mount Shasta man reported finding bones Aug. 5 off North Shore Road near Lake Siskiyou. Detectives collected bone fragments and submitted them to Chico State University’s department of anthropology. There Dr. Turhon Murad determined the bones belonged to an adult human, Gravenkamp said. The bones have now been sent on to other laboratories for forensic and DNA testing, she said. The tests will be used to try to discover who the bones belonged to and what happened. Fullmer was reported missing Dec. 16 after an argument the previous day in an area near Lake Siskiyou known as Twin Pines. Extensive searches found no sign of her. The remains were located several miles northwest of where she was last seen, Gravenkamp said. Mero, a liver-transplant recipient, disappeared in February 1997 without the medication she needed to prevent tissue rejection, Gravenkamp said. Zaccaglini was last seen June 4, 1997. She left a friend’s house in McCloud to walk home, about a block away, but never arrived. In addition to exploring links to those cases, detectives will investigate other possibilities, such as an unreported death or dumping of a body from elsewhere.
