Since You Asked: No set date on Wolf Creek Inn reopening Thursday Oct 6, 2016 at 12:01 AM I have always wanted to go to the Wolf Creek Inn. Any update on opening it? — Linda W., via email   It's still in a holding pattern, Linda. No real estimated opening date is available. The historic inn, which closed during the winter of 2014-15 for renovation, hasn't reopened because the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department has not yet found a concessionaire to run the place. Not to say they haven't tried. They went out to bid once, but the response was pretty tepid. "We were unsuccessful through that recruitment process," said Perry Salvestrin, manager for the parks department's Rogue Management Unit. Previous concessionaire Margaret Quist told Since You Asked she and her husband chose not to renew their contract at the inn because of the financial impact they would have had to endure during the closure for repairs. Renovations included new HVAC and fire-suppression systems. Those projects have been completed, and a new roof is set to go onto one of the structure's wings soon. As for the hunt for a new concessionaire, Salvestrin said it's back to the drawing board. "The department is well aware of the value the inn has to the community of Wolf Creek," he said. "We're trying to get it back open again." You can find additional information and updates online at http://historicwolfcreekinn.com. — Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
