According to the Jackson County Jail's logs, Jackson County sheriff's detectives Wednesday arrested Christopher Alan Williams, of Central Point, on felony charges of first- and second-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. Sheriff's officials said Williams, 39, was behind the wheel of a Honda Civic on Upper Applegate Road the night of June 27 when he lost control of the car as it rounded a curve. The car crossed a nearby field before striking a tree. One passenger, 34-year-old Dustin Everett Yax, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Williams and another passenger, 34-year-old Zachary Dennis Spencer of Eugene, were taken to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford with serious injuries. Williams is being held in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of more than $3 million bail, jail records show.
