Goeres places third at cross country meet Crater High graduate Janelle Goeres placed third individually, helping George Fox to second place in a collegiate women�s cross country meet Sept. 23 at Champoeg State Park. Goeres covered the 4,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 21 seconds, four seconds behind Kristi Lund of Northwest Nazarene. Goeres� clocking was the 14th-best ever for a George Fox runner on the course and the eighth-best by a freshman. North Medford AAU to hold tryouts Tryouts for a North Medford AAU boys basketball team are scheduled Oct. 8-9 at the North Medford High School gym. Boys living in the North Medford attendance area may tryout for two fifth-six-grade, two-seventh-grade teams and one eighth-grade squad. The tryouts are 2-5 p.m. Oct. 8 and 7-9 p.m. Oct. 9. Dunn bags hole-in-one at Stoneridge WHITE CITY � Medford�s Jeff Dunn scored a hole-in-one Thursday during a benefit golf tournament at StoneRidge Golf Course. It was the first ace in the 39-year-old�s 20 years on the links. He used a pitching wedge on the 135-yard 17th hole. Dunn won a set of Wilson fat-shaft irons for his effort.
