Judy Lavonne Day, 60, remained hospitalized Sunday, said Eagle Point Police Chief Dave Strand. Her husband, 59-year-old Daniel Clifton Day, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds at about 7:40 a.m. in a bedroom inside the couple’s Teakwood Drive home, Strand said. Paramedics found Judy Day in the home’s living room, Strand said. She was admitted to Rogue Valley Medical Center’s intensive care unit, Strand said. Police investigators had not spoken to her as of 7 p.m. Sunday, he added. The house, in the 300 block of Teakwood, was treated as a crime scene. Detectives obtained a warrant and started searching the house for evidence, including the firearm believed to have been involved, at about 6:45 p.m., Strand said. Another woman, who Strand would not identify, was inside the home when police arrived. However, she is not considered a person of interest, and investigators have identified no suspects, Strand said. Police spent about 10 hours Sunday trying to find family of Daniel Day, locating a brother in northern Jackson County. Neighbors said the couple had lived in the house for more than 15 years, Strand said. The county’s major assault/death investigation team responded to the home. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is the lead investigating agency.
