Ashland Ski Area if they bring five cans of food to help feed the hungry. Those participating in the Ski & Snowboard against Hunger day will receive a free full-day lift ticket; all food donated will feed the growing number of hungry people in Jackson County, 33 percent of whom are children. All-day lift tickets are good from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and regularly cost $46 for those 13 or older and $36 for kids 7 to 12 on the weekend (kids under 6 and seniors over 70 (corrected) always free.) The Mt. Ashland Ski Area offers 23 runs plus its open bowl skiing and boarding. All trails are easily accessed by five chairlifts. To receive a free lift ticket, bring five or more cans of food to the ACCESS service truck pa­rked in the Mt. Ashland lot near the lodge. Foods rich in protein are needed, including peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meat, canned vegetables, fruits and beans. However, donations of any non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, cold and hot cereals, soup, chili, stew, macaroni and cheese, flour, and also welcome. People can also make a secure financial donation to ACCESS online at www.Accesshelps.org . For each dollar donated, ACCESS can provide five meals, or about five pounds of food, for local residents experiencing hunger.
