They are parked in front of my house and on a side street. They both have up-to-date license plates. An officer came the other day and told him that cars have to be moved every "X" number of days and to a different place. He said it was a public street and selective parking is unlawful. He said if this was not done he would have the car towed away. What is the law on people parking their cars in the front of their homes? — Donald C., Medford Basically, Donald, if an officer thinks someone is just "storing" a vehicle on a street and drives around the block to avoid a citation, then there’s a problem. According to Medford Police, a person can be fined $150 a day if a vehicle has been parked in the same location for five consecutive days. However, if one car is used to go to work or shopping one day, and the other is used the following day, the citation could be avoided. But merely moving a car from a front street to a side street is a no-no. And, yes, Donald, the Medford Police does cite residents for storing vehicles on streets past the five-day limit.
