Unlike the other models in the Juke lineup, the Nismo version provides unique styling and dynamic performance. Available in front- or torque vectoring all-wheel drive, the Juke Nismo and Juke Nismo RS models are part of a growing lineup of Nismo-branded factory performance machines from Nissan, which also includes the 370Z Nismo and the GT-R Nismo. Both the Juke Nismo and Juke Nismo RS feature special exterior modifications designed to enhance aerodynamics, in addition to special styling inside and out. Juke Nismo models are powered by a 1.6-liter I-4 engine delivering 188 horsepower and 177 lbs.-ft. torque. Requiring premium unleaded gasoline, these models have an EPA fuel economy rating of 28 mpg city, 34 mpg highway for front-wheel drive (26 mpg, 31 mpg respectively for all-wheel drive). Juke Nismo RS models are powered by a 215 horsepower version of the same engine, delivering 210 lbs.-ft. torque. Also requiring premium unleaded gasoline, these models have an EPA fuel economy rating of 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway for front-wheel drive (25 mpg, 29 mpg respectively for all-wheel drive). Front-wheel drive models are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, while all-wheel drive models are equipped with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The Juke Nismo lives up to its performance pedigree. The five-passenger, four-door crossover is fun to drive and the added down force from the enhanced aerodynamics is immediately noticeable. Handling is exceptional and the Juke Nismo is an excellent vehicle for those who enjoy a spirit run on an Auto Cross course. With a base price starting below $25,000, the Juke Nismo is a great entry-level vehicle for those wanting more performance in their ride. In addition to the performance specifications and styling, Juke Nismo models are also nicely equipped. I really enjoyed the keyless entry system with push button start, as well as the premium audio system. Other standard features include rearview monitor, around view monitor with moving object detection, NissanConnect with navigation and mobile apps with a 5.8-inch color touch screen monitor, voice recognition for audio and navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, streaming audio via Bluetooth and hands-free text messaging assistant. Standard safety features include six airbags, anti-lock braking system as well as vehicle dynamic control with traction control system. The Juke Nismo is a fun ride and one worthy of the test drive list.
