Singler won the 8-9 boys division by sinking 18-of-25 attempts, while Gmur claimed the 12-13 girls division by making 21-of-25. Singler and Gmur now advance to the state competition Feb. 22 at McNary High School in Salem. Bowling Bill Irwin rolled a 300 game in the Commercial League at Medford Lanes on Wednesday. He added games of 187 and 243 to post a 730 series. He has a 189 average. Don Dietl rolled games of 243-278-278 for a 799 series in the Commercial League at Medford Lanes on Wednesday. He has a 199 average. Lela Larkin rolled games of 265-235-226 for a 726 series in the Evergreen League at Lava Lanes on Wednesday. She has a 209 average. Ruth Sharp bowled games of 222-189-187 for a 598 series in the Roxy Ann Lanes Senior League on Feb. 3. Tony Bristow rolled a 300 game during the Rogue Valley Bowling Association Championships Feb. 1 at Lava Lanes. Jary Karpus and Taz Sutherlin each bowled 11 straight strikes for 290 games in the Rogue Valley Bowling Association Championships Feb. 1 at Lava Lanes. Karpus had a 789 series. Tyler Ellis rolled a 266 -193-246 for a 705 series in Generation X at Lava Lanes on Thursday. Zach Uhles bowled 246-241-218 for a 705 series in the Lucky Strikers League at Medford Lanes. Cheerleading North Medford High placed fifth in the Class 4A small division at the state cheerleading competition at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Feb. 1. It was the first time ever that North has placed in the state event. Competing for the Black Tornado were Stephanie Culala, Megan Sedey, Erin McNamara, Ellen Berry, Lyndsay McClamrock, Rachel Tomlin, Stephenie Steers, Amanda Cantrell, Lisa Hansen and Ashley Crossett. Swimming At the 10-and-under state championships for short course at Willamalane in Springfield last weekend, Superior Aquatics of Medford had a strong showing. Jenna Cooper claimed the best times in all her events and placed eighth overall for the 25 breast. Lucas Opgenorth came in seventh overall for the 50 fly and 10th in the 100 free; Derek Tarnawa placed seventh in the 50 back; and Ryken Robbins placed fourth in the 50 and 100 back, fifth in the 50 free and ninth in the 50 breast. Superior Aquatics will be represented by Jamie Buckley , Anya Martinez , Chloe Beecher , Annabel Purtzer , Kayla Haugen , Krystle Haugen , Melissa Gilmore , James Gilmore and Tolga Tokman at the 11-14 state championships in Corvallis Feb. 21-23.
