Medford council considers cable rates, adult store rules A proposal to raise cable television rates goes before the Medford City Council tonight. The council is considering a 65-cents-per-month fee per subscriber to Falcon Cable. A public hearing on the proposed fee is scheduled as part of the 7 p.m. meeting in council chambers at City Hall, 411 W. Eighth St. The fees could raise up to $15,000 annually for the city. The money could be used only for facilities and equipment for public, education and government access on cable. That could include remodeling the council chambers. At its noon session today, the council will consider a controversial ordinance aimed at regulating adult businesses. The ordinance came up after a public outcry about Castle Superstores, which opened a sexually oriented business on Progress Drive in September. There will be no public hearing on the ordinance today.
