Robert Lee Fisher Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 21, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Oct. 21, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Robert Lee Fisher March 15, 1935 - October 15, 2015 Robert “Bob” Fisher, 80, of Eagle Point, Ore. passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015. He was born in Medford, Ore. March 15, 1935 to William and Judith Fisher. Bob graduated from Medford High School and attended Southern Oregon University and served in the Army Reserves for six years. Bob married his “high school sweetheart,” Theressa “Tessie” Ragsdale September 12, 1955. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year and lived in the Rogue Valley their entire married life. Bob was a lifelong rancher raising cattle and registered Quarter horses. In addition, he worked in the logging industry and spent many years working for Steve Wilson Logging Company. He started his own log trucking business in 1986, which continues to be in operation today. Bob was very active in the Jackson County Cattleman’s Association serving as a past President and past Stockman of the Year. He also served as President of the State of Jefferson Quarter Horse Association. He was a long-time 4-H volunteer and was a 4-H Leader for over 50 years. He and Tessie were recently inducted into the Oregon State University 4-H Hall of Fame and they were also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jackson County Friends of the Fair Foundation. Most recently, Bob and Tessie were honored with the Heritage Award from the Jackson County Cattlemen, Cattlewomen, and Jackson County Farm Bureau. Bob was also a strong supporter of local FFA programs and was presented with the Cove FFA chapter honorary member award. Bob was known for his work ethic, enthusiasm for life, humor, quick wit, and commitment to helping the youth of Jackson County. He was a kind, fun, and insightful man whom people of all ages naturally gravitated toward. Bob is survived by his wife, Tessie; daughter and son-in-law, Tammi and Tim DelCurto; his son, Robbie Fisher; his sister, Ruth Clark; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Shannon Fisher; his grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah and Sam Wyffels, Scott DelCurto Molly DelCurto, Callianne and Kelly Harris, Katie Lee Fisher, and Kylee Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be holding a private, graveside service at Siskiyou Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 with an “open house” celebration of life to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Fisher home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Bob Fisher Memorial 4-H/FFA Scholarship Fund.
