Crenshaw leads North boys to tie with Bend BEND Dominic Crenshaw led by example in North Medfords 2-2 boys soccer tie with Bend Friday. The Black Tornado team captain scored both goals as North rallied from a 2-0 second-half deficit to salvage a tie in the non-conference match. "Dominic gave us that spark today," North Medford coach Rich Garcia said. "He held the team together." Bend led 1-0 at halftime, then scored early in the second half when North failed to clear the ball in its defensive zone and Fritz Hoesley converted from 10 yards out. "At this point, I wanted to see what our guys had," said Garcia. Crenshaw got the Black Tornado going 23 minutes into the second half when he scored on a header in the box off a cross from Ben Clark. The senior midfielder knotted the score with five minutes left on a blast from 20 yards out after the ball ricocheted off a Bend defender. "Wed been pressing and the game turned in our favor," said Garcia. "When youre down to two goals on the road, it shows a lot of character to come back. Now we need to look for that knockout instinct." Garcia credited the North defense with being responsible for the comeback. "Even though we gave up two goals, our team defense started taking control of this game," said Garcia. "Our whole defensive system is what helped us with our offense."
