Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend January 24, 2006 Comet girls rout Pelicans CENTRAL POINT — Despite poor shooting by both teams, Crater rolled past Klamath Union 53-29 Monday in Southern Oregon Conference girls basketball. The game was moved to Monday from Friday because of poor travel conditions last week. "It was kind of a ho-hum game," said Comets coach David Heard. "I don’t think we really played very well at all. We missed a bunch of easy shots and forced a lot of shots." The Comets shot 26 percent on 19 of 72 shooting from the floor, but the Pelicans came in at only 23 percent on 11 of 48 shooting. The Pelicans made just three field goals in the first half and shot 0-for-8 from the free-throw line as Crater took a 30-6 halftime lead. In that first half, the Comets relied heavily on the interior presence of Aundrea Albright and Amanda Haas. Advertisement Albright scored 14 of her game-high 16 points in the first half, was 7 of 10 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Haas had nine points and seven rebounds. Emily Brookins, a 5-foot-10 sophomore guard scored 11 points and pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds for the Comets (12-4, 4-2 SOC), who compiled 20 offensive rebounds in outrebounding Klamath Union 46-37.
