How can I get blank newsprint to use for children’s art? — Sandy We’ve got some good news and, uh, slightly less good news for you, Sandy. The good news is that we give away the ends of our paper rolls at our press building, 33 N. Fir St., in downtown Medford. That’s just across the street from the main newspaper building. Our protocols have changed, however. Our distribution department used to give them out on a first-come, first-served basis at 1 p.m. every Thursday. The rolls were carted out, and if you got to them first, they were yours. About 10 to 20 rolls were typically carted out, and they were gone in less than a minute. That’s been modified since then to make for a bit fairer process, distribution officials said. It’s still at the same day and time, but it’s no longer first-come, first-served. “We ask folks (who show up) to talk amongst themselves, see what each one might need, and then we open the doors up,” said Mail Tribune employee Karen Redfield.
