Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend October 11, 2005 Meth Watch: Suspect missed court date on meth charges EDITOR’S NOTE: Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon, in cooperation with the Mail Tribune and KTVL Channel 10, is participating in "Meth Watch," a program intended to combat the manufacture and sales of methamphetamine in Southern Oregon. Each week, Meth Watch will focus on a person wanted by Jackson or Josephine county law-enforcement agencies for delivery and/or manufacture of methamphetamine. Alvaro Antonio Segovia is wanted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for failure to appear in Circuit Court on three counts each of delivering and possessing meth and one count of manufacturing meth. He was indicted in January on the case, and because he missed a scheduled court date, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Bail on the warrant is $6,000. Segovia is described as a Hispanic male, 27 years old, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing approximately 275 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, several scars on his arms and a scar on his knee. The picture shown in today’s newspaper was taken in February. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case or any other unsolved criminal activity. Callers can remain anonymous. The reward is sponsored by Sonitrol of Southern Oregon. In conjunction with Meth Watch, the Mail Tribune compiles weekly statistics to demonstrate the effects of methamphetamine on our community. Arrests — Six people were arrested last week and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on meth-related charges. Five were arrested for possessing meth and one was arrested for possessing, delivering and manufacturing meth in addition to delivering the illegal drug within 1,000 feet of a school. Two arrests were in conjunction with other criminal charges. Child welfare — The local child welfare office of the state’s Department of Human Services placed one child in protective custody last week due to meth use in the family. Addiction recovery — Twenty-four meth addicts entered outpatient treatment last week at OnTrack Inc. Five meth addicts completed inpatient treatment last week at Addictions Recovery Center (ARC). Three people were admitted last week to ARC’s sobering center while under the influence of meth.
