Hart, Eagle Point defeat Ashland Thursday Jan 25, 2018 at 2:00 AM EAGLE POINT — Senior post Carlene Hart scored a game-high 21 points to lead the way as the Eagle Point girls basketball team recorded a 58-43 win over Ashland on Wednesday night at Eagle Point High School. Eagle Point, which led 24-23 at halftime, outscored Ashland 34-20 in the second half to pull away. “We left Hart open underneath the hoop and she’s great around the basket,” said Ashland head coach Antione Perry, whose team fell to 3-12 overall, 0-5 in the Midwestern League. “Other than that, I thought we played pretty well.” Hart was one of two Eagles players to score in double figures in the win, as fellow senior post Ashli Meerten finished with 16 points. Eagle Point improved to 8-8, 2-3 in the MWL. Ashland also had two players score in double figures. Freshman wing Jayd Sollinger scored a team-high 16 points, while sophomore guard Nina Munson added 10. Malia Rodriguez also had eight in the loss. Munson finished with four steals, four assists and nine rebounds, and Mya Elder-Hammond had four assists and five boards.
