A family had objected to the gym class alternative, arguing that yoga was a gateway to Hinduism. “While the practice of yoga may be religious in some contexts, yoga classes as taught in the district are, as the trial court determined, ‘devoid of any religious, mystical, or spiritual trappings,’” the court wrote in a 3-0 opinion. SURVEY SAYS According to a recent survey conducted by Gallup, the Republican Party has a high percentage of people who consider themselves to be very conservative and very religious: 34 percent. In the poll, which surveyed Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, the next most-popular answer was “conservative/moderately religious” (15 percent), followed by “moderate to liberal/highly religious” (14 percent).
