Penn picked up individual wins in the 200-meter dash, javelin and long jump as Ashland topped Crater, 90.5-54.5, while Maya Van Hook led the Crater girls to a 71.66-54.33 victory. Penn clocked 23.7 seconds in the 200 before hurling the javelin 162 feet. He polished his day off with a win, setting a mark of 20 feet, 2 inches in the long jump. Dominic Meads, Jeremiah Sherrynewby, Aaron Chandler, Ian Rinefort and Lars Weston all captured a pair of victories for the Grizzlies. Meads claimed wins in the shot put (43-10) and discus (155-5) and Sherrynewby won in the pole vault (11-6) and triple jump (40-8). Ashland’s 4x400 team of Chandler, Rinefort, Weston and Ian Swanson was triumphant with a time of 3:36.31. Chandler also won the 400 (52.43), Ian Rinefort in the 800 (2:00.13) and Lars Weston in the 1,500 (4:26.56). Austin Kramer scored a pair of wins for Crater, taking the 100 in 11.39 seconds and joining Wyatt Vancil, Garret Dey and Tysen Lang on the winning short relay squad (44.44). Van Hook had three wins to lead the Crater girls, finishing first in the 200 (28.67), long jump (15-1) and as the final leg of the 4x100 relay (54.2) with Samantha Bowen, Jada Anderson and Megan Richardson. Richardson also got a win in the 100 (13.98). Ashland’s Willa Moen won the high jump (5-1) and pole vault (8-0) while Emma Hickman prevailed in the shot put (37-9½) and discus (120-3). NORTH SWEEPS : Javel Stewart and Tre Holmes each won a pair of individual events to lead the North Medford boys to an 87-58 win over South Eugene and a trio of Black Tornado girls won their individual events to secure the sweep with a 94-37 triumph at Bowerman Field. Stewart won the boys 100 (10.99) and 200 (22.37) while Holmes prevailed in the shot put (46-11) and discus (127-5). Savannah Greenwade won the girls 100 (12.41) and 200 (25.87), while Victoria Messer finished first in the 1,500 (5:21.59) and 3,000 (11:46.50) and Jaci Brumble soared to wins in the long jump (15-6½) and triple jump (32-9). SOUTH FALLS SHORT : Logan Billy and Sara Miles provided two individual victories apiece for South Medford but the Panther girls and boys teams weren’t able to keep up with Sheldon at South Medford High. Billy, whose South Medford girls were upended 87-54 by Sheldon, triumphed in the 100 hurdles (17.59) and and triple jump (31-1). In the shot put, Miles won with a launch of 36-6 and had the top discus throw (99-10). For the Panther boys, who lost 95-50 to Sheldon, Alexandro Villa won the 1,500 (4:23.2) by nipping runner-up teammate Luke Ramirez by seven-tenths of a second (4:23.9) to highlight six total victories. GP TOPS WILLAMETTE : At Grants Pass, Mark Hubbard and Deshae Wise both had big days for host Grants Pass, whose boys and girls took down Willamette, 94-51 and 109-24, respectively. Hubbard won the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.43) and was on the winning short relay squad. Wise had three individual victories, placing first in the 100 (12.35), 100 hurdles (15.23) and 300 hurdles (49.94). Alexa Ryan won the long jump (14-3) and triple jump (31-6) for the Cavers. Cole George went 147-8 in the discus to highlight a strong effort by the Phoenix boys, while Danielle Jantzer won the 1,500 in 5:11.68 to lead the charge for the Phoenix girls.
