Butte Falls nabs Sky A district berth PAISLEY Butte Falls and Paisley came into Fridays key volleyball match both undefeated in the Skyline A League South Division. The Loggers capitalized on the net play by Elizabeth McLauchlan and the defensive performance from Jackie Lyon to pin a 16-14 and 15-9 defeat on the Broncos. "It was really some of the best volleyball in the South Division that Ive seen in all my years here," said Harrington. Both Butte Falls (16-5, 9-0 Sky A) and Paisley (9-1 Sky A) have clinched Skyline A League district tournament berths, but the seeding has not been decided. The two teams meet in a rematch Oct. 28 at Butte Falls. Butte Falls and Paisley will face the top two teams from the Northern Division at Douglas High on Nov. 4, with two Class 1A state tournament spots on the line. Lyon, a senior defensive specialist, played an important role in the victory with 14 digs. "She was all over the place," said Harrington. "She elevated her game at the right time." McLauchlan was responsible for 12 of the Loggers 25 kills in the match. "I would have to say the difference was our serving and net play," said Harrington. "Were a tougher serving team than they are and we hit the ball really well. They were digging the ball all night long and keeping it in play." In the opening game, Butte Falls jumped out to leads of 9-3 and 14-9, but the Broncos came back to knot the score at 14. Jessica Dunlap served the 15th point for the Loggers, then Asia Million, who had three aces in the match, served the final point of game 1. Butte Falls jumped out to a 7-1 lead to take command in the second set and never gave Paisley an opportunity to force a third game.
