Third suspect nabbed in Eagle Point pot robbery By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Oct 26, 2021 03:19 PM A A The man was attempting to board a school bus about a half-mile from the location of the crime A third outstanding suspect accused of robbing and assaulting individuals at an illicit marijuana processing facility outside Eagle Point was captured more than four days after the alleged robbery, and less than half a mile from the crime scene. Funan Wu, 58, of Sacramento, California, allegedly attempted to board a school bus Tuesday morning near Highway 140 and Salt Creek Road, according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers were called to the scene, and detained Wu without incident. Wu was arrested four counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of second-degree robbery, single counts of first-degree burglary, four counts of second-degree assault, along with counts of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and first-degree theft, according to the sheriff’s office. Wu is accused of robbing a residence in the first block of Lake Creek Loop near Highway 140 with co-suspects Vay San Duong, 51, of San Pablo, California, and Kien Vihn Vong, 49 of Sacramento. The two detained suspects are accused of attacking at least three victims with a hammer for at least $10,000 worth of unlicensed marijuana, according to an earlier news report . Wu hid out for four days and may have found shelter in the local area. Police ask anyone in the Lake Creek area who believes their property was disturbed to call the sheriff’s office’s non-emergency dispatch at 541-776-7206, and reference case No. 21-5610.
