For the fifth straight year, the finale of the four-team tournament will feature Southern Oregon Conference rivals Crater and Eagle Point. "We have such a good rivalry and itll be quite a battle," said Eagle Point coach Keith Williams, whose team has split the four previous tournament games with the Comets. "Its going to be a lot of fun." Tip-off is today at 4 p.m. Del Norte plays Crook County in the consolation game at 2 p.m. The Eagles used eight 3-point goals and a 22-15 second-quarter advantage to pull away from Crook County and cruise to a 68-55 win. Matt Campbell scored eight of his 16 points in the second period while Danny Acrey added six in the frame. Eagle Point upped its advantage to 13 heading into the fourth quarter and held the lead above 10 the rest of the way. Despite a 2-for-8 stretch from the free throw line early in the final period, the Eagles sank seven of their last eight foul shots to seal the win. "We got a little goofy with the ball at times," said Williams of his teams performance in the second half. "We had a stretch where we couldnt hit a free throw, but then turned it around late in the game." Acrey totaled 14 points and added eight assists with only one turnover. "Acrey did a great job handling the ball," said Williams. "He had a great all-around game for us." Ian Brooks added 10 points for Eagle Point and Eric Nackerud pulled down eight rebounds. Ryan McCarthy led Crook County with 23 points while Ryan Eckman added 18.
