February 05. 2016 12:01AM Mail Tribune 100, Feb. 5, 1916 Feb. 5, 1916 CHILD'S LETTER BRINGS A REPLY By way of indicating that the letters sent from Medford by the many hundreds during letter-writing week last month have already begun to bear fruit it may be mentioned that Judge George II Crosby of Apache county, Arizona, has replied in a most friendly and kindly way to a letter sent him at that time by little Miss Georgia Nadine Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Williams of 519 Edwards street, this city. In the letter of reply Judge Crosby says: "I just got your letter. We are going into Utah in May. I fear we may not have time to go as far north as Oregon, but if we do, we shall surely head for Medford and will see some of the pretty things that you describe. I would surely like to make a tour of Oregon and some of these days we will get time to do it, I hope. When we do we will surely go where we can find your folks and see you." ELEVEN FEET OF SNOW AT CRATER Ranger M. I. Edwards of the Crater Lake National Park, returned Saturday from a lonesome winter spent at the lake. There was then eleven feet of snow on the level, as against an average at this season of the year of over twenty feet, with sometimes forty feet. He came out on snowshoes via Fort Klamath. On the rim of the lake there is little snow, the wind having blow it off and out into deep drifts. At Crater Lake inn the snow has drifted to the roof of the building. It has been a comparatively mild winter in the park, the thermometer touching zero but twice during the season, when it fell to two degrees below. SOCIETY A farewell stag dinner was given by the Comraderie club Tuesday evening, February 1, at the Hotel Medford.
