Medford police reported today that the lifted Toyota truck was found just before noon in Grants Pass after apparently eluding officers there. The Monday chase began at about 8:15 p.m. in Medford at the intersection of Lear Way and Delta Waters Road, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said . Officers reportedly tried to stop the pickup because it had no license plates and did not have its lights turned on. A lone male driver was inside, though a description of the man was not available. Budreau said the vehicle did not pull over and sped away, traveling west on Highway 62, then to Highway 238 before continuing out toward Jacksonville. The truck's speed stayed at about 60 mph. Its lights remained off. “The vehicle was crossing into oncoming lanes of traffic and passing on blind corners, which caused the pursuing officers to back off in hopes the person would slow down,” Budreau said. Officers from Medford police, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jacksonville police and Oregon State Police participated in the chase at different points. "Other units took over at different times," Budreau said. The truck's lights went on when it reached Ruch. Police continued to follow, but eventually lost sight of it on Cantrall Road just before 8:40 p.m., when police cut their pursuit short because of the snow. "(It) was getting too deep," Budreau said.
