Rainfall amounts were "pretty consistently between 1.5 and 2 (inches) over the valley," from about 7:30 a.m. Thursday to 7:30 a.m. Friday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Shad Keene. Medford and Ashland each received 1.8 inches. For Medford, that's a record for the 24-hour period, Keene said.  In Grants Pass, 3 inches fell, while about 2 inches fell over parts of the Cascades and 1.5 inches fell over Roseburg. The Oregon Coast was hit hardest, with some areas seeing more than 6 inches and winds up to 80 mph. By comparison, Medford saw gusts of about 25 mph. The rain caused some minor flooding on Bullock Road near the Medford airport due to poor drainage. Pacific Power spokesman Ry Schwark said no significant power outages were reported in Jackson or Josephine counties, but several occurred in coastal communities. Medford Fire-Rescue, Jackson County Fire District No. 3 and Jackson County Fire District No. 5 said it was a relatively quiet night for calls stemming from downed trees and power lines. Ashland Fire & Rescue could not be immediately reached. Jackson County Roads assisted with some localized flooding at an Oregon Department of Transportation facility. "Other than that we didn't receive any calls," department Director John Vial said. Another storm system is expected Saturday, and weather officials expect this one to be windier, with more potential for power outages and downed trees. Northern Oregon is expected to bear the brunt of Saturday's weather. "We think it's going to be worse in terms of wind," Keene said. A wind advisory will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for most of Jackson County. The southern end of the Rogue Valley, along with some of the higher-elevation areas in Jackson County, will be under a high-wind warning during the same period, with southerly winds of 25 to 40 mph expected, with gusts up to 55 mph. — Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected].
