Michael Wayne Hawkins passed away unexpectedly September 22, 2015 in Costa Rica, South America as a result of complications due to a stroke. He was born August 31, 1938 in Monterey, Calif. to Fred and Elizabeth Hawkins.{br class="hardreturn" /} Michael graduated from Medford High School in 1956. After high school he became a jet pilot in the U.S. Air Force. After 10 years in the service, he moved to Eugene where he had a chrome-plating business. He was also part owner in Medford Construction Company, a commercial building company, along with his brother, Richard.{br class="hardreturn" /} He later moved to Atlanta, Ga. where he owned a car wash business. Upon his retirement he moved to Costa Rica. He loved Costa Rica, was an avid golfer, and became the local club champion after several holes-in-one.{br class="hardreturn" /} Michael is survived by his brother, Richard; his sister, Betty Orndoff; his son, Scott Hawkins; his daughter, Stephanie Kerr; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Hawkins, and his parents. At his request, there were no services. {br class="hardreturn" /}
