Wolfe, Grether pace North in SWC loss Apr 09, 2015 12:00 AM A A EUGENE — North Medford sprinter Tyren Wolfe played a part in three victories and fellow junior Emily Grether earned a pair of triumphs but little else went the Black Tornado’s way against Sheldon in Southwest Conference track and field Wednesday. Wolfe won the 100 meters in 11.20 seconds, the 200 in 22.90 and was part of a 4x100 relay squad that prevailed by one-tenth of a second over the Irish to highlight the day for North Medford’s boys team, which lost 109-36. Tristan Seitz managed the only other victory for the Tornado boys in the javelin with a heave of 146 feet, 9 inches. On the girls side, Grether finished first in the shot put (29-9) and discus (102-8) to pace North Medford, which lost 100-45. Tornado junior Savannah Greenwade lowered her season best in the 400 with a hand-timed win in 59.40, which adjusts to 59.54 and puts her fourth among Class 6A runners. Sheldon’s Geneva Lehnert scored an impressive win over Halley Folsom in the high jump by clearing 5-7, bumping the Tornado senior from first among 6A jumpers after she cleared 5-6¼ on Saturday. BILLI, LEMONS PACE PANTHERS : At Eugene, South Medford sophomore Logan Billi won three individual field events and four overall and senior Emily Lemons captured three wins to highlight the effort for the Panther girls in SWC action at South Eugene High. Billi’s wins came in the high jump (4-10), long jump (14-11.75 inches) and triple jump (31-6.25). She also teamed with Lexis Jones, Megan DeMaria and Aubrie Johnson to get the a victory in the 4x100 relay (54.68). Lemons won the 100 (13.11), 100 hurdles (16.78) and 300 hurdles (47.34). Sara Miles also earned wins in the shot put (36-2.50) and javelin (103-1) for the Panthers. On the boys side, South Medford’s Kaizer Gillispie won the 200 (22.14) and high jump (6-4) and ran a leg on the winning long relay. Team scores were not reported. GRANTS PASS SWEEPS THURSTON : At Springfield, Grants Pass sprinter Zac Hannan won the 100, 200 and 110 hurdles and ran a leg on the victorious short relay to lead the Cavemen to an 80-65 win over Thurston in SWC action. Deshae Wise won the 200 and 100 hurdles and ran a leg on each winning relay team to lead the Grants Pass girls to a 110-35 victory.
