Domestic violence homicide suspect arraigned By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Nov 09, 2021 08:46 PM A A Karnes in county jail after hospital stay for self-inflicted gunshot wound, faces second-degree murder charge The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported that David Allen Karnes, 54, of the 3300 block of Little Applegate Road, the suspect in an Oct. 20 domestic violence homicide, was released from a local hospital after being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Karnes Karnes is being charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of his estranged wife, Constance Maria Murphy, 54. According to previous reports, after shooting Murphy, he barricaded himself inside the residence near Ruch for more than two hours and shot himself as a SWAT team entered the home. He was arraigned Tuesday in the Jackson County Circuit Court and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Feb. 14, 2022. Karnes is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail.
