Central Point fee measures draw 30% turnout to date CENTRAL POINT - About 30 percent of voters have cast their ballots so far on two initiatives that, if passed, would become the most restrictive in the state. Measures 15-25 and 15-26 would require any new city fees or fee increases to be approved by 50 percent of all registered voters. That means that at the very least, 50 percent of voters would have to turn out for an election and every one would have to vote yes for the fee to pass. The measures would also force the city to refund up to $100,000 collected in developers' fees instituted since the initiatives' May filing date. County Elections Deputy Donna Connor said that 2,243 of 7,503 total ballots had been returned by mail by Wednesday. The measures need only a simple majority to pass. Deadline for ballots is 8 p.m. Tuesday. Those who haven't yet sent in their ballot should deliver it in person to be sure their votes are counted. Ballots may be delivered to the Elections Office at the Jackson County Courthouse, 10 S. Oakdale Ave., Room 216, Medford; the Payment Center drop box in back; a drive-up box near the courthouse on Eighth Street; and the Central Point Library (beginning Monday), 226 E. Pine St. Results will be posted to the county Web site at www.co.jackson.or.us.
