"She’s definitely, hands down, the best and most competitive player I’ve ever coached," said Crater coach Chris Arnold. "She’s a team leader and does a good job encouraging and challenging the other players." That leadership is one reason the Comets are 4-1, including a 4-2 win over Churchill and 1-0 win over Milwaukie in the North Medford Invitational on Tuesday. Against Churchill, Crater was down 2-0 in the top of the seventh before rallying to tie the game on a two-run single by Ashleigh Larson. Seniors Tyler Sutherland and Stacey Bauer followed with the Comets’ final runs. "We’re starting to really jell together offensively, but we’re looking for more consistency," said Arnold. Cristofaro, who yielded only five hits to Churchill, posted a one-hit shutout against Milwaukie. For the day, she gave up one earned run and struck out 15.
