Medford police are investigating the robbery and hope someone might have seen the robber skulking around the apartment complex or fleeing and can offer them a clue, Lt. Mike Moran said. Police were called to the Morningside Apartments at 2001 Table Rock Road about 8:45 p.m. Monday, he said. A 48-year-old man told police a young black man came into his apartment through a screen door on his patio. The screen door was unlocked and the locking sliding-glass door was open. The apartment resident was working at a desk in a back bedroom when he turned and saw the robber, Moran said. The robber sprayed the man with the can of oil and demanded money. The man handed over some cash and credit cards. The robber also took his car keys and asked what color his car was, Moran said. Advertisement The robber tied his victim’s hand with a shirt and tried to gag him with a towel, Moran said. He also hit the victim in the head and threatened to hurt him, then fled. The victim told police he didn’t see how the robber left his apartment or which way he went, Moran said. The victim said his car appeared to have been moved within the complex’s parking lot. Police hope someone spotted the robber and can tip police. "It was still daylight and that’s a busy area," Moran said. He said police didn’t have any details why the robber might have targeted the apartment he did. The robber was described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds. He looked about 18 years old. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. Anyone with information can call police at 770-4783.
