That’s the network featuring Al Franken and other liberal commentators. — Matt C., Medford. What’s the matter, Matt, you don’t think you get both sides from Rush Limbaugh? Air America launches March 31 on leased stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. The liberal Franken and Janeane Garofalo will have co-hosts for live, three-hour shows. Other hosts include Lizz Winstead of Comedy Central’s "The Daily Show" and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Internet entrepreneur Mark Walsh and New York venture capitalist Evan Cohen bought the network in December and formed a partnership with Inner City Broadcasting for Manhattan radio station WLIB. Company officials say they are also exploring buying or leasing stations in Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., but did not provide details. Advertisement They say Progress Media Inc. hopes to be able to operate for two years before turning a profit. It doesn’t look as if their plans include buying or leasing stations in markets as small as Medford-Ashland, Matt. But they say they expect to complete deals with satellite TV (most likely the Dish Network) and satellite radio stations, so stay tuned.
