John Martin Roos used his Twitter and Facebook accounts to state he planned to shoot Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, and he suggested their two daughters also should be shot first in a war against Muslims, according to an FBI affidavit filed today in U.S. District Court. When interviewed by FBI and Secret Service agents March 25, Roos acknowledged writing the posts out of his anger with agents shooting militant LaVoy Finicum during the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge earlier this year, according to the affidavit. Roos' posts on Twitter included, "Enough Patriots murders by the Obama admin. Enough Patriots and I am going to assassinate Obama," and "... An assassins bullet would stop all traitorous Obama bullshit, shoot him now," the affidavit states. In other posts, Roos, a veteran who described himself to agents as a Native American, not only threatened to kill FBI agents, he invited them to, "Come get this old man," and he planned to engage them in a firefight, the affidavit states. In the interview with federal agents, Roos, 61, said he never intended to harm anyone, but added that he would "punch Obama in the nose," because Obama "pisses him off," the affidavit states. That interview was conducted at the Veteran's Affairs Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center in White City. Roos was arrested at the center Thursday shortly after an FBI search of his Poplar Drive apartment yielded four illegal pipe bombs, an AK-47 and a loaded pistol, the affidavit states. Roos remains lodged without bail in the Jackson County Jail awaiting an appearance in U.S. District Court on a federal charge of communication of a threat in interstate commerce. No court appearance had been scheduled as of Friday afternoon. The case was opened after a citizen alerted federal authorities to some of Roos' Twitter and Facebook posts, the affidavit states. Roos also stated in some of his posts that Facebook regularly shut down his account for a month after some of his posts.
