But it took a last-second basket by 6-foot-5 senior Andrew Norum to give the Comets a 52-50 Southern Oregon Conference win over Ashland on Friday nigh. "The feeling was pretty good there in the third quarter," Meunier said with a laugh. "All of a sudden Ashland really got hot with four 3- pointers and we couldn’t buy a bucket." The Grizzlies (8-7 overall, 1-4 SOC) turned it into a dogfight in the final eight minutes, taking a one-point lead with 1:50 remaining. Crater senior Colin Schoonover, a 6-foot-1 guard, hit a 3-pointer to give the Comets a two-point lead. "We missed the front end of three one-and-one situations in the fourth quarter," Meunier said. "We were 1-of-5 from the line and could have iced it if we just would have made our free throws." Ashland’s Clint Bryan hit a jump-hook to tie the game, 50-50. But Crater pushed the ball up the floor and sent it in to Norum in the paint. The senior post player scored the winning basket with 10 seconds left. Norum led all scorers with 23 points and Bryan led the Grizzlies with 13. ASHLAND (50) — Bryan 13, Presicci 6, Clevenger 12, Palmesano 10, Brown 5, Mackovjak 2, Skinner 2, Bishop 0.
