OSF benefit for AIDS/HIV nets $59,000 This year's Daedalus Project raised $59,000 for the fight against HIV/AIDS, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival said. The money will be distributed to nine organizations in Southern Oregon and Northern California. The 2001 Daedalus Project was the OSF's 14th annual AIDS benefit. It is a daylong affair that culminates in an evening variety show. The total amount raised represents a $4,000 increase over the 2000 event. This year's Daedalus featured a 5-kilometer run/walk, an art auction, a cake sale, a sale of art items, a quilt raffle and a performance by actor Dan Butler (best-known for the character "Bulldog" on television's "Frazier") of his hit one-man show, "The Only Thing Worse You Could Have Told Me" in the festival's Angus Bowmer Theatre. After the event, the festival invited groups to apply for funding. The OnTrack/Alan F. Collins AIDS Project was awarded $31,000; the Names Project Foundation, $1,000; Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, $1,000; the Abdill-Ellis Lambda Center Association, $4,000; Siskiyou County HIV/AIDS Foundation, $4,000; the Douglas County AIDS Council, $4,000; AIDS Support and Prevention of Josephine County, $9,000; the Rex Rabold Fund, $2,000; Africare, $3,000.
