There's no place like Rome Every day I watch Scott Lewis on Channel 12. On his weather map there is a location southeast of Lakeview that he calls "Rome." I grew up in that area; the town is New Pine Creek. I still have family there. What gives? I have asked Channel 12 this question with no response. -- Barbara M., Central Point Scott Lewis says he his not referring to New Pine Creek, Barbara. It's not Rome, Italy, either. Believe it or not, there really is a Rome, so small that it is not on every Oregon map. Rome is on Highway 95 between Burns Junction and Jordan Valley, almost in Idaho. Lewis decided to add it to his map because the National Weather Service put in a facility there and he gets what he considers to be reliable weather data.
