Seems to me they are pretty high now. Can you tell me what month and year the Jackson County housing market topped out, and when and how low it dropped? — Ernest S., Medford Years of double-digit gains peaked in 2006 and 2007, depending on the part of the county. Loran Hughes, the technology wizard at Southern Oregon Multiple Listing Service, tells us the county-wide median sales price for single-family residences crested in August 2007 at $285,000. By March 2011, the median had plunged to $140,000; some areas dropped to even a greater degree. That spring, more than 60 percent of the housing market was comprised of short sales and bank-owned properties. During April, SOMLS figures showed the median price for existing houses in Jackson County was $214,500. The median price for a new home, according SOMLS was $255,450, but not all new homes go through the system. Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
